2024 Coin Convention Information

September 26 - 28, 2024 (for the public)Virginia Numismatic Association (VNA) 65th Annual Convention Coin, Currency and Collectible Show Free Parking and Admission NEW LOCATION! RICHMOND RACEWAY COMPLEX 600 E. Laburnum Ave, Henrico, VA 23222 2024 VNA CONVENTION NEWS Attention VNA Members! Bring your VNA membership card and you can enter the show one hour early, through the front door. Early Birds: Pass is $35.00 during dealer setup. Contact is Bourse Chair, Richard Schornak 757 659-0235. Dealer Drop-off Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm. Dealer Setup: Thursday, Sept. 26 from 7:30 am - 11:00 am. Show opens to the Public Thursday, September 26 11:00 am - 7:00 pm. Friday 9:00 am - 6:00 pm (Home Schoolers Day) Saturday 9:00 am - 4:00 pm (Grandparents/Grandkids Day) Exhibits - There will be multiple numismatic exhibits on display. Please see the Convention Program, button link below. Food service - There will be NO food service inside the convention hall. Food vendors/restaurants are available close by, outside the venue. Bourse Chair - The Virginia Numismatic Association (VNA) seeks a volunteer to replace the current VNA Convention Bourse Chair, Richard Schornak, who will step down after the 2024 convention. We seek someone to work alongside Richard this year to gain insight into the workings of the VNA Convention. This is a unique opportunity. Convention Program Ads – Full page dealer ads in the 2024 VNA Convention Program are available for $100. Half page ads are $50, and one-quarter page ads are $25. September 13, 2024 is the deadline for inclusion in the Convention Program. Hotel - Information for those attending the 2024 VNA convention: the following hotels are recommended.There are no special VNA Room Rates. Consider reserving rooms through travel sites online, for the best pricing.

Convention Banquet Friday, September 27, 2024 6:30 PM The Convention Banquet will be held at Anna's Italian Restaurant 7017 Mechanicsville Turnpike, Mechanicsville, VA 23111. Guest Speaker: Michael Shutterly Medieval Masterpieces: Eight Salutes to Mary Michael T. Shutterly is an amateur historian who specializes in the study of ancient Rome and the Middle Ages, with a special interest in the art and history of the coins of those periods. He has published articles on ancient and medieval coins in various publications and has received numerous awards for his articles, presentations and exhibits on different aspects of the history of the ancient and medieval world. Michael is a member of the ANA, the ANS, the Association of Dedicated Byzantine Collectors, and numerous other regional, state and specialty coin clubs. The restaurant has offered the VNA a buffet consisting of Chicken Alfredo, Spaghetti with Meat Sauce, salad and non-alcoholic beverages for a special rate of $31.50, includes tax and gratuity. Individuals are responsible to pay for their own meals. Cash and check accepted at the door to the banquet room. Banquet attendees will receive a special souvenir. Homeschoolers, Young Numismatists, Grandparents Days Friday is Youth and Homeschoolers Day. There will be a special area and schedule for speakers. Free coins will be given out for participants. Saturday is Parents and Grandparents Day. Speakers and programs will be of broad interest to both children and adults. You can find the Speaker Schedule here. Award Nominations – VNA members may nominate deserving folks for 2024 VNA awards by sending your name, the name of the nominee, which VNA award, and why they deserve this recognition to Parry Bragg and John Kolos. 2024 CONVENTION PROGRAM The Convention Program includes the Schedule of Events, and a list of all dealers with their table numbers.
